Challenges: How to Empower Students with Seamless Academic Information Access?
ITB (Institut Teknologi Bandung) is a state university located in Bandung, Indonesia. Realizing the importance of digital development for academic information systems, ITB wants to develop MySIX, a mobile application for student academic activities. The current academic information system is used to manage ITB academic information, but unfortunately it is only available in the form of a website platform. To enhance convenience and accessible information for the ITB academic community, especially students, it is necessary to transform the existing academic information system into a mobile application that can be accessed via any mobile devices.
To increase the convenience and give accessible information for the academic community, particularly students, ITB decided to transform the current academic information system into a versatile mobile application. This aims to optimize the efficiency of information retrieval for the academic community, facilitating streamlined access and to deliver academic-related notifications faster and accurately.
Solutions: Comprehensive Solution to Develop All-in-one MySIX Mobile Application
To address ITB's current needs, Suitmedia offers mobile application development services for the Academic Information System (SIX). This encompasses the creation of features such as class and lecture management, study plans, student status monitoring, financial aspects, user profiles, and supplementary functionalities. Through these solutions, ITB can develop a mobile app that is used for the student academic activities by providing an accessible and comfortable experience.
As part of the solution offered, Suitmedia assists ITB in conducting research and UX to be based on the needs of potential users to design user-friendly mobile applications. The solution provided by Suitmedia aims to identify the needs of mobile application users, especially for students and other stakeholders. We also detail the features and functionality of the mobile application to be created, supported by design of the user interface (UI) for ITB mobile applications, as well as conduct system development for MySIX mobile applications.
Results: A More Accessible and Convenience Academic Information System for ITB Student
With MySIX mobile applications, there are significant results that give impact on ITB’s academic system information.. This can be seen from the number of users who have successfully accessed the MySix mobile app. As of January 5, the total number of downloads on Android devices reached 3.5K while on iOS devices it reached 4.5K. In addition, the average number of active users in 30 days reached up to 11K. This shows how the presence of MySIX mobile application has met the needs of students as a means of delivering comprehensive academic information.
